Veterans Weights August 1995 to February 1998

A problem has been discovered with the veterans weights (PWVETWGT) on the CPS microdata files. This problem exists on the files from August 1995 through February 1998. The problem that occurred was that a component of the Other Service veterans was omitted from the control total, therefore their weights underestimate the actual number of other service veterans. Controls for the Vietnam Era and Other War Veterans were correct. The result was that the veterans weights for the for the Other Service veterans and nonveterans are incorrect. The difference in the weights from the actual controls ranged from 900,000 in August 1995 to 1,300,000 in February 1998. The nonveterans were overestimated by the same magnitude. We have corrected all the internal files to fix this problem. The corrected version of each file has been loaded up into FERRET and is now available.
