Useful Variables Created for Analysis for Race and Ethnicity Supplement


The following variables were created for analysis of the major research issues across the four panels of the supplement. These recoded variables contain values from their respective unedited variables that appeared in each panel of the supplement allowing direct comparison between panels. These variables were used to create the tables in the Press Release and the final report (BLS Statistical Note #40).

PRSANCST Ancestry

VALID ENTRIES:

2 = Spanish Speaking
3 = sub-Saharan / Unspecified Black
4 = Asian or Pacific Islander
